Self assessment records for those on PAYE
What are self assessment records?
When you register for the Self Assessment tax return system, a record is set up for you at HMRC. This means they know you'll be filing a tax return, and will expect you to hit the deadline for submitting it. They'll remind you of this once a year, on or after the 6th of April (when the new tax year starts). You won't need to register for the system every year, though. Once your record is set up, it stays that way until you no longer have to file Self Assessment returns. As long as you're entitled to claim for your expenses, RIFT will sort out your tax returns when we calculate your refund.
