What information do I need to claim a Construction PAYE tax refund?

To claim a Construction PAYE tax refund, HMRC needs to understand where you worked, what you earned, how much tax you paid and what expenses you covered yourself. What we need from you

When you make a tax refund claim, you’re going to need to prove to HMRC that you’re owed money. That means:

A list of the sites you've worked on: You'll need to tell HMRC the places you've worked and when you were there. You can claim for up to 4-years, but don't stress out if you can't track down every last detail. We can help you fill in the blanks.
Monthly payslips: You’ll need these for each of the tax years your claim covers.
Supporting documents: Basic paperwork like a photo ID and proof of address are essential. Things like MOT certificates for your mileage claim and receipts for your work expenses will all help, too.

You may already have a Personal Tax Account (PTA) set up at HMRC. If not, we’ll help you get one sorted out. Your PTA keeps all your key information together in one place. It’s a useful thing to have when you’re claiming a tax rebate.

A 64-8 form is a legal document that appoints someone else to deal with HMRC on your behalf. This person then becomes your "agent", and can handle things like tax rebates and self assessment tax returns for you.

In other words, 64-8 is the piece of paper that lets RIFT take on the stress and hassle of tackling the taxman for you. It's the key to getting your tax rebate paid out, so get it filled in as soon as possible.

Simple question, simple answer. Without form 64-8, the taxman won't even talk to us about you. If we can't get HMRC to treat us as your agent, you'll be on your own when it comes to scoring your tax refund or talking to them about any problems, enquiries or changes to your tax code.
