JIB stands for the Joint Industry Board. They’re an impartial organisation that regulates electrical contractors across the UK. They set the standards for pay, training and competence, as well as operating the ECS (Electrotechnical Certification Scheme) card programme. The ECS card proves the worker’s identity on-site and shows their job and qualifications at a glance.
JIB members also benefit from health care benefits, employment advice, a pension scheme and other benefits including discounted services.
RIFT Tax Refunds have been working with the JIB since 2012 to let their members know that they could be due a tax refund, even if their employer pays some of their expenses. We’ve already claimed three quarters of a million in refunds for JIB ECS electricians who found out about the potential for a refund through this partnership.

Mark Debono, 29, Benfleet, Essex, got a CIS refund of £2,345.78 for a 1 year claim. He said:
“The RIFT flyer came with my new ECS card, I thought I’d give them a try because they were cheaper than my accountant. I called on my lunch break and they called me back the same evening, they even did the forms for me over the phone – I hate paperwork. I went for the RIFT Rapid Refund service so I got my money in just 24 hours instead of waiting 6-8 weeks for the taxman to pay out.”
Colin Bruce, 60, from Kent, got a PAYE refund of £2,760.83 for a 4 year claim. Colin explains:
“The lads in the canteen were talking about how much money RIFT got them back. I didn’t want to miss out so went on to riftrefunds.co.uk and chatted to one of their team online. They took all my details and said I could claim back four years. I’m on a different site every few weeks and I always drive so I got back over £2,700.
